RHYTHM 2015 is in 2 weeks! Do you have your ticket yet? There's still time to be a part of the 10 Year Anniversary Celebration of the Most Awaited Show - and SOFKIN! Music, scintillating dance from award winning local dance schools, news of the SOFKIN children, and wonderful food are all included in the ticket price.
Over the years, RHYTHM has helped raise the money needed to support dozens of children in a warm, nurturing, caring environment. Without the guidance of SOFKIN, these children may not have celebrated many birthdays nor survived the most dire circumstance they found themselves in. We've accepted the challenge to bring as many smiles to children as we can this year.
Some of those we help are the families and children of MAHER (Mother’s Home), which is a home for battered, destitute women, children, and men. It is a Home of belonging, freedom, and love. It is the home that inspired the birth of SOFKIN.
For example, one of the children SOFKIN supports is KK. KK’s mother had passed away. His father used to beg and would take KK with him. Sadly though, his father also died, leaving this small child nowhere to go. He continued to beg and slept anywhere he could find a place. A gentleman stating in the area knew about KK’s parents. One fine day he found KK in the Wagholi market. But the little boy wasn’t able to give him any information. This kind hearted soul took him to the Police Station and they wisely brought him to Maher. He is now in school, is fond of playing games, and enjoying just being a child.
Or look at PP, who came to Maher 5 years ago when she was 6 years old. Both of her parents died due to HIV/AIDS complications. She was roaming in the slums with no one to look after her. She had no relatives and no home. Luckily she was found by one of the Sisters of Maher. PP is now in Class IV, has taken her KATHAK dance exam, and has received a participation certificate for a sporting day event. She now thrives thanks to the loving care, support and guidance of Maher and SOFKIN.
Will you join us in making these children's lives full of hope and joy?
